Dan McCarney is the assistant head coach and the defensive line coach for the University of Florida Gators. Coach McCarney joined the program in February of 2008. Although he has only been with the Florida Gators one season, Dan McCarney is already making a big difference. The Gators defense under the leadership of Coach McCarney were ranked 1st in the nation in interceptions. The defense also did not allow a touchdown in 5 of their last 8 games, another testament to the coaching skills of Dan McCarney.

Before coming to the Florida Gators football program, Coach McCarney was on staff at the University of South Florida as an assistant head coach and defensive line coach, Iowa State as the head coach, the University of Wisconsin as the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach, and the University of Iowa as the Offensive and Defensive line coach for a period of time.
