Florida Beats Ohio State in Gator Bowl

The Florida Gators denied Ohio State its chance to avenge the 2006 BCS title game loss to the Gators by beating them 24-17 in the Gator Bowl. Ohio state finished the season with 7 losses for the first time in 114 years.

The Buckeyes actually had 6 more first downs than Florida, 20-14, and outgained their counterparts 299 yards to 263. However, the Gators special teams and defense were too much for the Buckeyes. 

The Gators recorded six sacks, shutting down the Buckeye offense. On special teams, Andre Debose returned a kickoff 99 yards and Chris Rainey blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown.

The win allowed the Gators to avoid their first losing season since 1979.
